Psych Of Gender Research Paper Assignment

Psych Of Gender Research Paper Assignment

Below are the instructions for the assignment itsef:

Psych of Gender Research Paper Assignment Sheet
Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to give you an opportunity to explore a topic of
interest related to gender, sexism, sexual orientation, etc., and to help you to learn how to review
a body of literature to answer a question of interest.
You will use your paper outline to write your final research paper. Be sure to incorporate the
feedback I have you on your outline when writing your paper.
Content:
In your paper, you should “summarize, synthesize, and integrate” the information that you have
found related to your research question. So, summarize or paraphrase the published research that
you’ve found, interpret the meaning of it, and then find a way to tie it all together to answer your
research question.
Make sure your conclusion, at the end of your paper, provides a “take-home message” for your
reader or ties what you have learned to the outside world (Examples: tell your reader what other
research should be done, suggest some interventions to improve people’s health and happiness,
or offer advice to people who want to combat a social issue or help a certain group of people).
I’m looking for 5-8 pages for this assignment, but you’re welcome to write a bit more if you’d
like to.
Sources: You must use a minimum of 6 sources, 5 of which should be scholarly journal
articles. You do not have to use all of the sources that you included in your outline and are free
to add as many additional sources as you like, but be sure to use at least 6 altogether, ideally
more. You are encouraged to use a mix of primary research articles (which detail specific
experiments or studies) and review articles that summarize general information about your topic.
If you like, you may use your textbook as one of your sources or a non-scholarly source such as a
video, a newspaper article, or anything else. There is no limit to the number of sources you can
use—generally, the more research you do, the better your paper will be.
Format: We are going to approximate APA format in this paper. Your entire paper should be
double-spaced, written in 12 point font (Times New Roman or Calibri) and should have 1”
page margins. Be sure to check this setting in whatever word processing software you use—
oftentimes the default is 1.25” (go to “Page Layout” and adjust “Margins”). Make sure that you
include page numbers at the top right of each page header (for those of you who have done APA
formatting in the past: you don’t need a running head, but you may include one if you like). You
will also need a title page that includes the title of your paper, your name, and your institution
(see example below). An abstract is not required.
Reference section: Your reference section will be formatted the same as the one for your
outline. Begin your references on a separate page that begins with the word “References”
(centered at the top). Visit the Owl at Purdue website on APA style for information about how
to cite books, book chapters (if the book is a compilation of chapters that are written by different
people), websites, videos, interviews, etc. The website is:
https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/ge
neral_format.html
Or, you can access a copy of the 7th edition of the APA style manual in the library, if it is open.
Formatting for the 6th edition is also acceptable for this paper.
APA-style in-text citation examples:
(Brown, 2010)
(Brown & Jones, 2010)
(Brown et al., 2010)
Brown et al. discovered that blah blah blah … (2010).
All quotes must have page number included in in-text citation:
(Brown, 2010, p. 270).
According to Brown (2010), blah blah blah (p.270).
Be sure to take a look at the grading rubric in Canvas to see how many points each section of the
paper is worth
